Cali Giglio - College of Charleston

2025

Over the past year at the College of Charleston, I have grown significantly both academically and personally. I am currently majoring in Hospitality & Tourism Management, which has allowed me to explore my interests in leadership, event planning, and creating meaningful experiences while building a strong foundation in business and people-centered work. Academically, I have learned how to balance a demanding course load while strengthening skills such as time management, critical thinking, and collaboration. My hospitality coursework has taught me how to think strategically about customer experience, operations, and event execution. These classes have challenged me to think strategically and apply classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios. Outside the classroom, I have been heavily involved in leadership and professional development. I serve as Vice President of Recruitment for my sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha, where I lead planning efforts, manage teams, and help create an inclusive and welcoming environment for new members. In my free time, I enjoy playing club tennis and have served as the communications director for our team. Next semester, I am looking forward to gaining hands-on experience through internships and work opportunities in fitness studios, catering, and private event planning. These experiences have taught me how to communicate effectively, adapt under pressure, and take initiative in professional environments. Without MVYouth, I wouldn’t be where I am today. This past year has been a period of growth, confidence-building, and clarity about my future goals. College of Charleston has challenged me to step outside my comfort zone, and I feel more prepared, motivated, and excited about continuing to build toward a career centered on leadership, event planning, and hospitality. Thank you, MVYouth.

2024

This fall semester has been an incredible few months of growth and new opportunities. As an Exercise Science student at the College of Charleston, I’ve truly enjoyed diving into my health science classes. These courses have not only challenged me academically but have also deepened my passion for understanding exercise nutrition and how to promote a healthy lifestyle. I’ve particularly enjoyed designing balanced wellness plans. In addition to my academic pursuits, I am honored to have been elected Vice President of Recruitment for my sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha. Leading this spring semester and next fall semester recruitment efforts will be rewarding and educational, teaching me invaluable lessons in leadership, communication, and teamwork. I’m also thrilled to be part of the club tennis team this year. Joining the team has been a great way to stay active and bond with teammates who share my love for the sport. It’s been a fun and rewarding balance to my academic and leadership commitments.

2023

During my first semester at the College of Charleston, I have had the privilege of encountering numerous opportunities, inspirational professors, and the chance to integrate my passions into my extracurricular activities. I recently became a member of the club tennis team, where I have already forged lasting, meaningful friendships and cherished memories while enjoying my favorite sport. While diligently attending to my academic responsibilities at the library (accompanied by my eight roommates – it's quite a lively environment), I have managed to up hold my commitment to playing club tennis twice a week and even embarked on journeys to Savannah, Georgia, for multi-school tournaments. This semester also marked my introduction to my major: Exercise Science. Guided by an exceptional professor, I gained insight into the myriad of career prospects awaiting me, ranging from a physical therapist to a sports nutritionist. I not only committed heavily to my coursework this semester but also succeeded in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, a personal priority of mine. Alongside my tennis endeavors, I have ventured to explore the vibrant city of Charleston, discovering new yoga studios and scenic walking spots. My experience at the College of Charleston has been nothing short of exceptional, and I'm profoundly thankful to MVYouth for providing me with this invaluable opportunity.
