It has been six years years since Vineyard Family Tennis was welcomed into the island community as a family oriented, non-profit tennis program open to players of all ages regardless of income. We are proud to have established a no-cost membership program for all island children with affordable programming and discounts for multiple family members and increased lesson frequency. This past year Vineyard Family Tennis continued to grow as our popular junior development program, summer camps, and adult tennis activities welcomed a new generation of players. Our after school program ran to capacity as our coaches trained children ages 3-18 each afternoon. Summer at VFT was exceptionally active with our morning, afternoon and full-day campers enjoying tennis drills, games and fun. Adult tennis enthusiasts also benefited before and after camp and on weekends and evenings through open play and private and group instruction. VFT was recently named an official National Junior Tennis & Learning Chapter (NJTL) through the USTA Foundation. As an official NJTL chapter, we plan to launch an enhanced after-school program combining tennis along with a new learning and tutoring program. Our adaptive tennis program continued its work as we renewed our partnership with ACEing Autism. As an official partner, we offer on-court opportunities to help children with autism grow, develop and benefit from social connections and fitness through no-cost tennis programming. While we are so very proud of Vineyard Family Tennis, we know that our work would not have been possible without the generosity of MVYouth. VFT is forever grateful to MVYouth for their continued support. We truly enjoy sharing this life-sport and all of the benefits that it provides. Together with MVYouth, we hope to continue our work in the Martha’s Vineyard community for many years to come.
